The Power of Duality
The power of duality is a vital thought process in which human beings subconsciously use on a daily basis. This valuable dichotomy provides guidance in analyzing situations, concepts, and belief systems. Many cultures believe in the power of the balance of energy and this appears in the material world as an ideal. When looking at these concepts it is imperative to remember these are not associative in manner. For example, yin is feminine and passive along with yang being masculine and active. However, this is not gender specific meaning not all women will have character traits of being passive nor does it mean all men will be masculine.
Human beings are not creatures who are free from imperfections. Cosmologies and magickal models help us to expand our world views, justify and validate our behaviors, and essentially lead us to what we want to believe.
For example, in Chinese Taoism the conceptual belief of duality is believed to manifest through the interaction of both energies creating a harmonizing balance. Thus, in essence without one the other cannot exist. Such is the same thought process in the power of dualism existing within us all. The adage there is an angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other. We are constantly having internal dialogue in weighing our options, validating decisions, and justifying our behaviors in situations we put ourselves into.
Some of these falter on what we would like to never be reminded again forever hiding it in a darkened corner of an ever expanding walk in closet while other chosen experiences are like beautiful sunrises blanketing our very being. In either case both provide useful information for future decision making. If we are seeking secular authenticity, start learning these aspects of oneself. Never be afraid of learning your truth; run towards it with welcoming anticipation.
